Tips for surviving long flights

Acceptance is key.  Mentally accept that you are going on a long trip but the end result is paradise.  Let travel mishaps/delays roll off you.  Take deep breaths.  Use this time to catch up on things that you never get to do in your busy schedule :

Entertainment:

download movies/books/music - watch those long movies you thought you’d never have time for.  Read that book you’ve been meaning to pick up.  Listen to podcasts.  Learn another language.  Organize/delete photos on your phone.  Journal.  Listen to relaxing music while you sleep.

*Most overseas flights have great in flight entertainment

Comfort:

  • Neck pillow

  • Socks if your feet get cold

  • Sarong - use as blanket or scarf if the plane blanket isn’t enough to keep you warm

  • Refreshing face mist/cleansing wipes

  • Fresh pair of underwear

  • Toothbrush

  • Deodorant

  • Eye Pillow

  • Ear Plugs or Noise Canceling earbuds/headphones

Circulation:

  • Compression socks or pants if you’re prone to swelling

  • Move! Get up and walk the aisles.  Make a pit stop in the attendants’ areas (they have more space) and stand-stretch as much as you can.  Stretch your upper body while seated as much as you can.

Recycled Air Remedies:

  • Take an emergen-c (or similar) every 12 hours to boost your immunity.
